Dorothy Sterling is a scholar of African American history and has authored many books including Forever Free, Tear Down the Walls!, It Started in Montgomery, Speak Out in Thunder Tones, The Trouble They Seen. Collected items are research and documentary material accumulated for several of her books including those above, as well as Ahead of Her Time: Abby Kelley and the Politics of Anti-Slavery and We Are Your Sisters. Documents include correspondence, notes, microfilm, photographs, and clippings. Topics of interest include women and abolition, African emigration; and postbellum African American women.
