Historical Note

The Tulane University Vietnamese Association (TUVA), established in 1987 is a student-based campus organization that works to promote cultural diversity through community service and charity work. Located on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, TUVA is a membership organization available to all students regardless of heritage and ethnic background. The Association promotes an understanding of Vietnamese culture and heritage not only on the campus of Tulane University, but also throughout the New Orleans area. TUVA coordinates observation of the annual Tet Celebration (Vietnamese New Year), as well as other special programs and activities throughout each year. Activities include screenings of Vietnamese films, and events highlighting Vietnamese food, arts, and performances. Early officers of the Association were Tam Cuong, Trang Vuong, and Linh Thruong.
