Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Included within this section of files are records pertinent to NCADH’s management and day-to-day operations. Correspondence is divided into general, inter-office memoranda, and telegraphs. The arrangement of the correspondence is chronological followed by minutes, and reports to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. Additionally, legal and personnel records account for the balance of the files within this series.

The NCADH sought and utilized the support of many prominent civil rights groups interested in the effect housing discrimination had on race relations within the Unites States. Included among the correspondence are letters from the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Friends Service Committee, the American Jewish Congress, the American Missionary Association of the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries, the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai Brith, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Association of Intergroup Relations Officials, and the National Council of Negro Women. Prominent correspondents within the administration files include Charles Abrams, Algernon Black, Frank S. Horne, Stanley M. Isaacs, Shad Polier, Edward Rutledge, and Jack E. Wood.
