Series Description
These collected publications show Cartwright’s interest in a variety of subjects broadly covering race, education, history, politics, psychology and international development. Often the publications highlight the achievements of African Americans. Notable items include an undated galley proof for a children’s edition of Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
The collected ephemera includes obituaries, booklets and organizational materials such as brochures and pamphlets, as well as travel and tourism information.
Of note are clippings from newspapers and magazines that primarily cover the civil rights movement of the 1960s, with a particular focus on national conversations about race and racism.
