Scope and Contents
This series encompasses collected news and magazine clippings, newspaper clippings, programs and publications related to Yepez’s work as gallery director and other topics of interests. Materials cover a variety of subjects such as history, Black studies, art, business and finance, music, health, human relations, childcare and welfare, education, politics and race relations. The news clippings range from 1942-1989 and include materials on the 1942 race riots, religion, sports, the Saranac Lake area (1962), Touro Infirmary (1961), and topics about women’s history (1943-1967). Newspaper clippings (1940-1989) are arranged by decade and document topics related to exhibitions held at DYG. Other collected publications include educational materials possibly used by Yepez for research purposes (1943-1968).
Of interest are publications listing Dorothy Yepez Galleries within their directory. The bulk of the publications include The Art Gallery magazine (1958-1969), published by Hollycroft in Ivoryton, Connecticut. The Art Gallery magazines contain directories of American art exhibitions with a European supplement. Exhibitions held at DYG are listed in several summer publications.
