Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

The Fessenden Academy records span 37 boxes, or 13.2 linear feet of space. Of this the correspondence is represented by only about .3 feet of linear shelf space. Most of this correspondence with Fessenden is from the New York office of the AMA, individual teachers on summer vacation, and former students requesting transcripts of their academic records. The correspondence is dominated by school principal John A. Buggs.

The financial records (1939-1951) are extensive. Arranged chronologically, they cover six boxes of material. Most of the collection is devoted to the files of individual students, containing academic records, correspondence from students' families, and any transcript material from other schools. Arranged alphabetically by student, these records fill eighteen storage boxes, and span about 6.8 linear feet of shelf space. Ancillary to their individual student files are three storage boxes of student grades arranged chronologically by class; this represents 1.2 linear feet of shelf space.

The collection also documents the enrollment of World War Two veterans during the last eight years of Fessenden's operation. Four storage boxes hold the files of individual veterans, arranged alphabetically, and this covers about 1.6 linear feet of shelf space. One box each of photographs and publications can be found at the end of the collection.
