Photographs from "Picture Story of Trinity School", 1946
Scope and Contents
The Trinity School records concentrate in the years 1940 to 1950. Correspondence represents about forty-three percent of the total, dating from 1931-1957. Most of it is between the New York office and two Trinity superintendents, Jay T. Wright (1940-1943) and the Reverend William King (1943-1956). In 1956 and 1957 there is also correspondence to and from the Limestone County Superintendents of Education, F. R. Johnson and G.H. Roberts.
Financial records constitute most of the non-correspondence, filling almost two boxes. In addition to financial records, reports, applications and contracts, minutes, photographs, publications and collected items, the non-correspondence includes records of Trinity's transfer to the state, examinations from the school year 1941-42 illustrating Wright's functional education methods, an interview with a local pastor concerning the 1946 race riot, and press clippings on the 1941 arrest of a Japanese friend of Wright. There is also a 1946 photograph album called "Picture Story of Trinity School," the contents of which are filed with student material. The oversize box contains its wooden cover.
