The records documenting field work among Native Americans measures 10.4 linear feet, or 26 boxes. The records include correspondence; AMA reports; financial records; and collected items generated by other agencies, including minutes, reports, publications, and legal documents. The main agencies documented in these records with which the AMA was involved in this mission work include the Board for Homeland Ministries' own Committee on Indian Affairs, the Council for American Indian Ministries, the Native American Theological Association, Northland College, the Dakota Association, Fort Berthold, and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Most of the material is focused on higher education for Native Americans and the establishment of churches in their communities. Other topics include Native American relocation and Native American radio broadcasting.
