Scope and Contents
The papers of William E. Pajaud document his life as an African-American artist and curator. The collection includes correspondence, dating 1969-1996, between Pajaud and gallery owners, other artists, and family members. The collection includes exhibition files, invitations, programs, photographs, awards, and articles and publications about Pajaud. Photographs include those of Pajaud, his family and friends, and his artwork and the works of other artists. Other artists documented in the correspondence and photographs include: John and Hazel Scott, Romare Bearden, John Biggers, and Charles Paige. Also included are a small number of drawings and a watercolor by Pajaud, as well as one of his sketch books. Audiovisual materials include a 16mm film, an audio cassette, and a 1/4" audio tape.
