Scope and Contents
Correspondence and non-correspondence generated in the process of corporate management are inclued in this series, including all items pertaining to personnel and corporate policies, financial and legal matters, and tax status. The basic arrangement of the records is chronological.
As a civil rights organization, the corporation had a particular interest in Black/White race relations in the United States and produced a large amount of correspondence in this area. Of particular significance is the correspondence to and from the prominent figures involved in the civil rights struggle of the 1950's and 1960's. Included among these leaders were Martin Luther King, A. Philip Randolph, the Rev. James H. Robinson, Elenore Roosevelt, and Roy Wilkins.
