We'll Never Turn Back collection

The We’ll Never Turn Back was a photographic exhibition sponsored by the Amistad Research Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, which commemorated the struggle of the Civil Rights Movement twenty years earlier in the form of photographs, created by Worth L. Long. The exhibit was set to debut in the Smithsonian in 1980. The Voices of the New Orleans Movement was the group that organized to bring the exhibition to New Orleans. Oretha Castle Haley was chairperson of the exhibit, while Florence Borders was the secretary. Other contributors to the exhibit include Clifton H. Johnson who was the executive director of Amistad Research Center, Tom Dent, Lolis Elie, Henry Mitchell, Avery Alexander, Jerome Smith, Doratha Smith Simmons, Isaac Reynolds, Quo Vadix Gex Beaux, and others. Photographers featured include, Elaine Tomlin, Matt Herron, Doug Harris, Dee Gorton, Ronald L. Freeman, Diana J. M. Davies, and others.
