The Robert H. Stewart Family papers include correspondence, account books, and receipts and promissory notes regarding the operation of businesses owned by Natchez, Mississippi, morticians and furniture dealers Robert H. and Robert Stewart.

The account books of Robert H. Stewart and his father, Robert Stewart, list business expenses such as supplies, freight charges, wages, and equipment; charges for coffins (for both whites and blacks) and making and repairing furniture; and credit accounts. The account book dated 1836-1861 lists various expenses, including a list of plantation overseers, their dates of hire, and wages, likely at the Elder Grove Plantation at Bunch's Bend, Carroll Parish, Louisiana. Individual receipts (1852-1868) are for payments made to plantation overseers, as well as for supplies, dry goods, land surveys, building repairs, and taxes. The three letters of correspondence (1858-1861) also pertain to payments and receipts.
