Content Description

The papers contain items provided for exhibition at the time Acox was honored by the Friends of Amistad, for which she had served in numerous capacities and as president. The items pertain to her activities in social clubs, the postal alliance, church, and professional organizations. Correspondence, printed items, clippings, and photographs are among the items in the papers. Additionally, early documents include a teaching certificate for Acox's grandfather, Henry Arthur, and a document giving power of attorney to Leroy Billips during the forthcoming absence of Arthur from the country. The other items pertain to the 50th anniversary and class reunion of the 1931 of public school McDonough #35 (New Orleans, La). Included are a photograph of the class taken at the reunion, an article from the publiction, Black Data Newsweekly, and an account of the preparation for the reunion, as well as a financial statement and a roster of participants. Acox was a member of the class.
