Content Description
The Afram Associates, Inc. Collection is comprised of various publications and ephemera produced by Afram Associates, Inc. This organization was co-founded in 1968 by Harlem activist, community organizer, and educator Preston Wilcox, along with Kenneth Haskins, Gregory Simms, Lee Montgomery and Ronnie Moore. It was a non-profit public service agency focused on researching, archiving, and sharing information about Black organizations, education, history, and resources and to serve as a resource for community groups. The collection includes various publications, leaflets, and other printed ephemera produced by Afram Associaties, Inc., much of which was authored by Wilcox. Titles include: Action Stimulator, Idea Stimulator, Liberation Stimulator, Thought Stimulator, Action Library, Humanizer, Afram Newsletter, National Afrikan Kalender, and others. Also present are materials related to Afram Farm, news clippings, and collected materials from similar organizations.
