Content Description

Jack and Jill of America Inc. was founded in 1938 by a group of upper-class African American mothers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's purpose was to provide social, cultural, and educational opportunities for children between the ages of 2 and 19. By 1946, ten chapters had been formed and more continued to develop over the years, including one in New Orleans. The bulk of the records of the New Orleans chapter document its activities during the 1990s and includes correspondence, financial records, handbooks and reports of various meetings and conferences, regional materials, and photographs.
