Judicial Council of the National Bar Association records

The Judicial Council of the National Bar Association was created in 1970 as an independent section of the Association with George W. Crockett Jr. appointed as coordinator. The Council had its own officers, by-laws, programs, and treasury. The records of the Council  include correspondence, minutes, financial records, resolutions, newsletters, lists, photographs, press releases, and other printed items. The correspondence is mostly to or from Crockett and usually concerns itself with membership of the Council, issues such as prison reform, busing , and integration of federal and state judiciaries. The various conventions of the Council also generated many of the materials. Notable correspondents include: Raymond Pace Alexander, Ernest N. Morial, A. Leon Higginbotham, Robert N.C. Nix Jr., Richard M. Nixon, William Hastie, Charles Percy, Constance Baker Motley, Benjamin Hooks, and Kenneth Clark.
