Impact was a New Orleans-based newspaper that focused on topics of interest to the gay and lesbian community. It began circa 1977 and published until August 2000 under variant titles. The Impact collection is comprised mainly of other GLBT newspapers from around the United States that were received by the Impact office as part of exchange programs. Additional material includes correspondence, press releases on gay and lesbian issues, programs, as well as information on Men of Color, an organization for gay African American men.
