Rev. James W. Young was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on July 9, 1906, and received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Union Baptist Theological Seminary in 1950. He was Pastor of the Second Nazareth Baptist Church in New Orleans from 1952-1994. He was a board member of the First District Missionary Association, Vice-President of the Christian Ministers Alliance, and a member of the national and state Baptists conventions. He died in New Orleans on June 9, 1995. Rev. Young's papers include corespondence, family papers and documents, photographs and slides, diaries and appointment books, pamphlets on religious topics, newspaper clippings, sermons, audiocassettes of church programs and religious programs, and the family Bible.
