Where They At collection addendum
Content Description
This addendum to the Where They At collection contains 66 photographs produced by Aubrey Edwards for the Where They At project, circa 2008-2010. The photographs include portraits of rappers, DJs, music producers, and label and record store owners from the New Orleans bounce and hip-hop music scene. Also included are family members of bounce artists and notable clubs and venues, as well as public housing projects in New Orleans and scenes from bounce/hip-hop performances. These photographs were included in the exhibition, “Where They At: New Orleans Hip-Hop and Bounce in Words and Pictures,” which was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2008 and in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2010. The exhibition documented New Orleans hip hop artists and musicians active from the 1980s to the early 2000s, when New Orleans rap and bounce music became a unique, hybrid hip-hop sound.
