Douglas E. Brown collection
Content Description
The Douglas E. Brown collection consists largely of photocopied research materials on the artist. The original materials in this collection are correspondence, primarily between Brown’s widow, Freda Barry Brown, and Steve Harvey, who was researching Douglas Brown.
Research materials, likely sent from Freda Barry Brown to Harvey, consist of photographic slides of Douglas Brown’s paintings, some collected correspondence, a list of Brown’s known artwork, newspaper articles, and exhibition announcements and catalogs. Brown began painting in New Orleans and later lived in New York and Washington, DC.
