Content Description

The Middleton A. Harris collection contains five filmstrips: The Revolutionary Period, Early American Inventors, Anti-Slavery Coins, The Story of Lewis Latimer, and The Doctor is a Lady (regarding Dr. Dorothy L. Brown); three manuals accompanying the filmstrips; three speical editions of the Times and Democrat of Orangeburg, South Carolina (one for the centennial of Claflin College, 1969, one about Wilkinson High School, 1971), and one about South Carolina State College, 1967); two photocopies of 19th century newspapers (The Loyal Georgian, April 20, 1867, and The Georgia Constitutionalist, June 19, 1845); and one teaching manual on Pierre Toussaint. The filmstrips and teaching manuals were published by Negro History Associates, which was founded by Harris in 1964 to collect and disseminate information about African Americans.
