Content Description

Consists of clippings about Chicago civil rights activists, including Harold Washington, Lu Palmer, Louis Farrakhan, Nathaniel Clay. The audiocassettes include recordings by or about the same individuals and others including Marcus Garvey, Stokley Carmichael, Margaret Walker, Melvin Van Peebles, Dorothy Tillman, and John G. Jackson. Collection file includes an index to call 70 audiocassettes with some topical summaries.

This collection also includes an audiocassette entitled "Black London," two tapes entitled "Mama I Want to Sing" and newsletters from the British Library's National Sound Archive, news clippings, and audiotapes of various BBC and Chicago radio programs. Items of note include a recording of a program entitled "Keep the Dream Alive: A Tribute to Mayor Harold Washington."
