Emanuella Spencer papers
Content Description
Emanuella Spencer joined the staff of the Amistad Research Center in 1970 working as an archivist and indexer for the archives and manuscripts collections. She served the Center for 28 years retiring in 1998, but returned part-time in 2001. An active member of the Friends of the Amistad Research Center and the First Thessalonians Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, LA. Mrs. Spencer’s activities include work in the field of gospel music, which is reflected within the collection.
The collection consists of correspondence (1995-1996), convention materials from the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc., souvenir programs (1976-1986), from the Martha Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star-Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, publications, choir ephemera, sheet music, awards, and books.
