Content Description

Dr. Vernon J. Williams received a Ph.D in American civilization from Brown University and teaches history at Purdue University. He has written several books and has served as editor of the New England Journal of Black Studies. The collection includes correspondence, newspaper articles and several publications written by Williams. The 2008 addendum to his papers contains correspondence, writings by Williams and materials documenting his teaching. The 2014 addendum mainly consists of Williams’ administrative correspondence, including letters of recommendation for students and faculty evaluations for the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies at Indiana University (2007-2013). Also included are course evaluations and faculty reports and Williams’ book reviews and manuscripts evaluations. Additionally, Williams’ work as a co-editor of the Black Diaspora Review (2009-2012) is highlighted in volumes 1-3 within the papers. Lastly, there is a small amount of writings by Williams compiled for Oxford Bibliographies, as well as collected writings for manuscript evaluations.
