Roland Tilman Heacock papers
Content Description
The papers of Congregational clergyman and author Roland Tilman Heacock contain correspondence, writings, sermons, notes, photographs, news clippings, a scrapbook, memorabilia, and collected items. Writings by Heacock document his interest in civil rights, African American history, religion, and bee culture. Several unpublished manuscripts and poems constitute a portion of the collection. Correspondence of interest includes letters generated by Heacock's acceptance to an all-White congregation in his native New England. Names in the collection include: Frank P. Chisolm, Kivie Kaplan, Alfred Baker Lewis, Oliver Peace, Eleanor Roosevelt, Fred Shuttlesworth, Douglas Sloane, Douglas Sloane IV, and Howard Thurman.
