The papers of Nicholas Hood II document his work as a civil rights activists, minister, and city councilman. The collection consists of correspondence, programs, news clippings, sermons, and records generated as a city official and politician. The collection is a rich resource for the study of contemporary urban developments and chonicle the urban renewal activities of the Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit, Michigan. Hood was a minister at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit, Michigan from 1958. He worked in the areas of community development, urban renewal, and continued his community activities by running for the city council in 1966. An item of interest is the ordination program for Andrew Young who was ordained at Central Congregational Church in New Orleans.
