Central Congregational United Church of Christ records

The records of the Central Congregational United Church of Christ in New Orleans, Louisiana consist of board of bylaws trustees’ reports, correspondence, minute books, financial reports, sermons, photographs, membership rosters, programs, and other printed materials. Unbound minutes are also included, as is the centennial history of the church that was founded in 1872. Former pastors of the church are represented by items in that collection, past and present members of the church are also represented. Many of the items were used by Lucille Hutton in writing the history of the church, for example the second charter and a photograph of the old church that was located at Cleveland and Gasquet prior to the move to the present building on Bienville. Additionally, the records include annual reports, printed items of the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries (UCBHM), and orders of service. Of the printed items of the UCBHM, there is literature of the Commission for Racial Justice, the General Synod, and the South Central Conference of the UCC. Of the collected printed items not related to the UCC, there is literature of the NAACP and the National Urban League.

Items of note include social action newsletters, 1964-1965; activities programs and flyers; treasurer's journal, 1925-1950; and membership records.
