James A. Cobbs collection
Content Description
This collection consists mainly of photographs related to the live of judge and law professor James A. Cobb. The earliest, though undated, photographs appear to be of faculty at a university, perhaps that of Howard University in Washington, D.C. Included is a mounted photograph of a group of men posed in front of a building, a mounted photograph of a group of women before the same building, and one of the two groups dining together outside. Two photographs of Judge Cobb include a portrait in his later years and one taken during one of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s inaugurations in 1953 or 1957. Additional photographs document the relationship between Judge Cobb and George E.C. Hayes. Included is an undated photograph of Cobb and Hayes with a group of people in the summer home of Hayes, an exterior of the summer hone, and an exterior of the Hayes home in Washington, D.C. where Cobb lived for a time. Also present is a 1923 yearbook of the Howard University Law School.
