Darlene A. Moore papers

Reverend Darlene A. Moore is the pastor of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and writer of inspirational literature. The collection consists of biographical information, photographs and books written by Pastor Moore including I am the Preachers Child, 1998, The ABC’s of Christian Women Living in the World, 1998 and Sista Pearl Chapbook Inspiration: For the Women of Every Color and the Men Who Love Them, 1998.

Additionally, her papers include a portrait of Rev. Moore and her son Joshua James II, 43 audiocassettes of her sermons at Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church, two printed tracts “The Roman road,” and two issues of City Social: The Area’s Premier Social Magazine, October 2004 and December 2004.

Correspondence within the papers (1986, 1996, 2003-2004) pertain mainly to church and pasturing matters. Other materials consist of news clippings (1997, 2003-2004); biographical information on Rev. Moore; two photographs of her; programs from United Methodist churches in Louisiana; invitations; ephemera related to Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church; newsletters reflecting Rev. Moore’s role as Pastor of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church; a history of Camphor Memorial and certificates. Also present are 13 audio cassette tapes and 28 VHS videotapes with recordings of Rev. Moore’s sermons and services at Camphor.

Reverend Darlene Moore’s papers also consist of materials related to the 2007 meeting of the National Black Clergy Women of the United Methodist Church. Other materials relate to the November 14, 2010 Re-consecration-Dedication of the Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church building. In addition, her papers consist of an incomplete run of Camphor Chronicles, the newsletter from Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church, dating from January 2008-March 2011, as well as additional ephemera about the church. Also present are two postcard invitations of exhibitions of Rev. Moore’s artwork.
