James A. Dombrowski Memorial Committee collection
Content Description
This collection includes correspondence regarding a memorial to James A. Dombrowski, a southern White Methodist minister and civil rights activist. Dombrowski co-founded the Highlander Folk School in Tennessee, founded the Conference of Younger Churchmen of the South, served as director of the Southern Conference for Human Welfare and the Southern Conference Educational Fund, andedited the liberal journal Southern Patriot. The memorial was co-chaired by Joseph Logsdon and Gloria Firmin and held in New Orleans on December 2-4, 1983. The collection also contains clippings, brochures, an invitation and announcement for the memorial, as well as a video cassette recording of the memorial.
