Content Description
The Mable Mayle Dillard papers consist of research materials compiled by Dillard during the course of her research toward a biography of Jean Toomer. The biography, Jean Toomer, was co-authored by Brian Joseph Benson and published by Twayne Publishers in 1980. The collection consists of correspondence to and from Dillard, a contract with Twayne Publishers, notes, copies of Toomer's works, copies of news clippings about Margery Latimer (Toomer's first wife), copies of Toomer correspondence, and criticism or reviews of his writings. Names include Sherwood Anderson, Waldo Frank, Marjorie Content Toomer (Toomer's second wife), George Gurdjieff, and others.
