Content Description
This collection consists of Ms. Fitch’s family genealogy as well as personal materials. These items chronicle the Fitch’s family life in Cleveland, Ohio.
The genealogical information includes biographies written by Fitch for her parents and family group records for relatives containing biographical information such as birth and death dates, names of spouses, and medical histories. These materials also include photocopies of photographs of family members. There is also an audiotape with an oral history done by Ms. Fitch with her father.
Personal materials include correspondence, newspaper clippings containing articles about Fitch, a photograph of Fitch’s graduating class from Jane Addams Vocational High School program of Practical Nursing in 1956, black and white snapshots of Rita Fitch as a student nurse as well as a postcard with a picture of the Forest City Hospital, a black owned hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. The remaining photographs include portraits of Fitch, snapshots taken at the 1956 Delta Sigma Theta Jabberwock in Cleveland, Ohio and color 5x7 snapshots from 1998.
