Rev. James W. Young was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on July 9, 1906, and received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Union Baptist Theological Seminary in 1950. He was Pastor of the Second Nazareth Baptist Church in New Orleans from 1952-1994. He was a board member of the First District Missionary Association, Vice-President of the Christian Ministers Alliance, and a member of the national and state Baptists conventions. He died in New Orleans on June 9, 1995.

Scope and Contents
This collections is made up of five audiocassette recordings of oral history interviews with civil rights activist Bob Zellner conducted by Eric Diner, then a Tulane University undergraduate, as part of Diner's honors thesis. Zellner, the first White field secretary from the south for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), has a long career in civil rights activism.
