Boxes 3-6
This series consists of manuscripts, drafts of Dr. Hall's published books, essays and lectures, which have been arranged into two sub-series. Sub-Series 1: Book and Chapter Drafts (1943-1989, undated), contained in boxes 3-5, includes manuscripts and drafts for Hall's works, Social Control in Slave Plantation Societies; Love, War, and the 96th Engineers; and Africans in Colonial Louisiana, which includes drafts with two earlier proposed titles: Slave Power: The Creoles of Louisiana and Creole Slaves of Louisiana. Sub-Series 2: Essays and Lectures (1969, undated), in box 5, includes the essays, "The 1795 Slave Conspiracy in Pointe Coupee," and "The Devil in the Caribbean: The First Two Centuries of Colonization" as well as a series of lecture given at Michigan State University in 1969.
