This series consists of Dr. Hall's research notes and photocopies of original documents dating from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries from various archival institutions in the United States and abroad. Materials and notes are from the following institutions: Historic New Orleans Collection (New Orleans, Louisiana) and the Louisiana State Museum Historical Center (New Orleans). This series also includes articles, news clippings, interviews, records, and reports, all regarding race relations in the south. Points of focus include conditions in pre-Civil War Louisiana as well as the Congress of Racial Equality, the Deacons for Defense and Justice, and the Ku Klux Klan during the 1960s in southern Louisiana.
