Annual Meetings, 1937-2000

The series is arranged into 14 sub-series starting with the Annual Meetings of the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries (1937-2000), followed by the Board of Directors meetings (1963-2000), the Executive Session (1964-1999), Executive Committee (1937-2000) meetings, and the standing committee meetings. The bulk of the records were generated by four clerks: Ernest M. Halliday (1937-1947), Aiko Abe (1975-1977), Amy Yoshinaga (1977-1991) and Mary Ann Murray (1991-2000).

Annual Meeting documentation is organized chronologically and includes the agendas, correspondence, minutes, memoranda, rosters of corporate members, and reports for each meeting. Pre-meeting documents and minutes of special meetings are also included. Of note are memoranda on the Racial and Ethnic Minority Fellowship Program (1988-1989) and school based clinics (1988 October 28-30) and a United Church of Christ sponsored report entitled "Ask the Churches about Faith and Sexuality: A UCC Survey of the Needs for Program Development" (1986 October 31-November 1).

Board of Directors meetings documentation is organized by the two meetings that occurred each year; one in the spring and one in the fall. The documentation for the meetings includes materials used in planning the meeting, final minutes with appendix usually lettered A-Z; and follow-up meeting memoranda, correspondence, proposals, rosters of corporate members, amendments, and reports. Of note is a proposal for the Christ Ministry with Indians (1987 April), and reports for the Coalition for Ministries among Ethnic Communities (1987 October 1-5), the 1988 Summer Urban Internship Program (1988 October 31), and AIDS programs (1988 October 31). There are a gaps in documentation for the years of 1956-1962, 1975-1984 and 1990.

The Executive Session and Executive Committee meetings documentation is organized chronologically and primarily includes minutes and planning materials for each meeting. The standing committee meetings are arranged alphabetically according to committee name and include agendas, memoranda, minutes, and reports. The standing committees covered include the Budget Committee, Business Committee, Continuing Corporations of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Investment Committee, Nominating Committee, Personnel & Salaries Committee, Policy and Planning Committee and the Structure Committee. Administrative and staff files kept by the Clerk of the Board of Directors include copies of certificates of incorporation, bylaws, salary grid information, and former staff employee and corporate member directories.
