Raymond G. von Tobel papers
Scope and Contents
The Raymond G. von Tobel papers relate to von Tobel's career as a teacher and school administrator in Georgia and North Dakota with the American Missionary Association. The collection includes correspondence, speeches, writings, photographs, newspaper clippings, programs, and school publications. The majority of the collection pertains to von Tobel's work at Ballard Normal School in Macon, Georgia. Additional material documents his time in North Dakota teaching among the Sioux people and includes photographs and a hymnal published in 1912 in the Dakota language. Von Tobel's notebook includes notes and observations from various education conferences from 1928 to 1932. Correspondence includes letters between von Tobel and administrators of the American Missionary Association. A small amount of material immediately dating after von Tobel's death in 1935 is present.
