Rene Calvin Metoyer papers
The papers of African American lawyer and notary public Rene Calvin Metoyer include three documents related to his career. The first is his Bachelor of Law degree from Straight University dated April 6, 1886. Also included is a certificate from the Louisiana Supreme Court, also dated April 6, 1886, admitting Metoyer to the practice of law in Louisiana, as well as a Louisiana notary public appointment certificate dated June 27, 1917.
Million Man March collection
This collection documents the Million Man March, a gathering of African American men that took place in Washington, DC, on October 16, 1995. The collection contains newspaper and magazine clippings, VHS videotapes of news coverage of the event, and forty-four color photographs taken by participant Allen Square, Jr. at the event.
